THE BASICS;	THE STORY;
Character Name: Badou Nails Series: DOGS Gender: Male Age: 20 Species: Human Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: Badou Nails stands straight and tall--about six foot two the last time he checked. His long, straight red hair reaches the midpoint of his back and he sports a black eye-patch over his right eye--or at least, the scarred remains of it. His palms are covered with scars as well, but he tends not to care so much about hiding those. He's not often seen without his black and white checkered wristband, his camouflage-print jacket, or without a cigarette hanging from his bottom lip. Personality: Badou is a brusque, lazy, and overall laid-back kind of guy. He's a notorious chain smoker, and whenever he gets a cigarette in his mouth he turns into some sort of lazy blob and fails to do much that's productive. He seems to care more about smoking than about surviving—he's that kind of guy who just lives from one day to the next. Aside from that, Badou can be easily described as a reckless coward. He likes to claim that he's tough, but in reality he'd rather just spend his time sleeping or eating rather than fighting—so lucky for him that he's pretty good at running away. Other times he feels no qualms about saying what he thinks about others, and that often lands him in loads of trouble. Outsiders tend to see him as brash and stupid, but most of it's simply a cover. Afraid that he might remember if he doesn't keep up his image, he does all he can to forget his past. Abilities: Badou is, in almost all manners of the word, a slave to nicotine. Due to this, he "suffers" from serious withdrawal effects--meaning that should he be deprived of it for a long enough time, he becomes extremely agitated. If he goes over the edge, he becomes nearly psychotic and turns extremely violent, losing his cowardly demeanor on the spot and starts beating the crap out of anything that's standing in between him and his smokes. Take away his cigarettes and hand him two MAC-10 submachine guns, and he's good to go. Rumor says that he gets high off of the smoke formed by the gunpowder. Weaknesses: Well, like any other person who lives a generally genetic-mutation-free lifestyle, Badou is human. Though his withdrawal symptoms do make him a lot more "trigger-happy" in the process, eventually he does tire out and goes back to being the lazy slob that he is. His hopeless addiction to nicotine makes it the main thought that plagues his mind, and sometimes he unnecessarily will throw his life in danger for the sake of getting a smoke. If he were desperate enough (and that point of despair isn't too hard for this chain smoker to get to) he would throw himself off a bridge for a taste of a cigarette. Literally. Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider	History: [A couple minor adaptations added, just to fill in the holes. Otherwise canon.] Badou hails from a completely dystopian society. The world that he comes from, a Europe mutated beyond all belief, has lost all of its seasons and remains eternally cold. Prostitution, rape, murder, gang violence, and all sorts of crime are all apparent in his world—but they've become so much of a problem that it's become commonplace. Death is the only reality in that world. When the he was young he spent most of his time with his older brother, a journalist, chain smoker, and photographer. He often tried to help his brother with his work, but most of the time he just got in the way. His brother was totally incapable of doing any sort of housework, so Badou, in return for his brother's protection, did most of the housework and chores. Either way, he and his brother were close, good friends. They lived happy, simple lives until one day they were attacked in an abandoned street by a gang of men, clearly unhappy with the brothers' most recent reports on their reputation. Badou barely escaped with his life, but only with his right eye in shreds and his hands and arms scarred. His brother, on the other hand, is long believed dead. He was unable to handle his grief, and took to smoking—despite all the warnings that his brother had given him about it in the past. In part, he believed that by smoking them himself he could make up for what his dead brother missed. Either way, several years passed with him dodging gangs and kidnappers, and since then the redhead turned from journalism to mercenary work. He tends to get jobs with mediocre pay, seeing how he's a bit notorious among the people for his strange mixture of laziness and recklessness. Most of the time he gets stuck with "information gathering" type jobs, where he spies on people to gather "scandalous information" and then sells the info to the highest bidder. He also works part-time at a grocery in order to make a few extra bucks. Occasionally he does score some higher-paying jobs, but only when his partner-in-crime Haine Rammsteiner is involved. Either way, he doesn't make too much money on his own and barely makes enough for his meals and cigarettes. He's known to blunder on the job from time to time, causing for a lot of unwanted attention and unneeded marks on his reputation. He ticks off the occasional gang leader with his work, but so far he's proven to be quite the lucky guy.
